Electromechanical master trip relays PQ_ series
High speed tripping relays for high as well as low burden applications
The PQ_ series relays are intended for the master trip applications in utility substations and industrial power systems, where a high degree of reliability and a high contact rating are stipulated with minimum internal consumption. Acting as instantaneous switching element, it provides galvanic separation and contact multiplication in tripping circuits of protective applications.
The relays are available in both low impedance as well as high impedance variants. The low burden type relay are generally used when initiating contact and master trip relay is in same cubicle. The high burden type relay is intended for applications where initiating contacts are coming from remote. The high burden provides immunity to capacitance discharge currents, which can result at the inception of an earth fault on battery wiring and immunity to subsequent leakage current.

Key features
Design and Principle:
The relay type PQ…. is specially designed for high speed operation and mechanical latching. It has flag indicator which indicates trip status when the relay latches. The relay can be hand reset by pressing in and resetting the operation indicator. The trip relays type PQ.. are instantaneous, plunger type relay with 4/6/7 contacts with double interruption. They are designed to operate from d.c. The low burden relays can also operate from a.c. when preceded by rectifier.
The relay has a magnet system which comprises a fixed core and a moving, plunger-type armature, actuating the
contact bar directly. When the coil is deenergized, the armature of the magnet and the contact bar are forced back into their initial position by spring action when relay is resetted.
The contacts are arranged symmetrically in two rows, on either side of the magnet, clearly visible and readily accessible.
The high burden relays have 2 cutoff contacts in series with coil, which ensures momentory high burden during pick up which is cut off after relay operation. The terminals on 1/2’S’ flush mounting case have an opening which can accommodate two wires with a crosssection of 1.5mm².

Features
Application
For remote and automatic control there is often a need for contactors which have two stable contact positions, even in the dead state. This requirement is fulfilled by changeover contactors type PSU..n.. The application of alternate control pulses to the coils cause the contacts to change from the one state to the other. If the supply is interrupted, the contacts remain in their previous position, even when the voltage is restored.
Design and principle
Basically, the PSU changeover contactors are composed of the same constructional elements as the established contactors type P8n. Two magnet systems are inter- connected by a pivoted element. In the type PSU6n… with 6 free contacts, only one system has contacts; in type PSU14n… with 14 free contacts, both systems have contacts. In each case two contacts are required for changing over the connection of the coils.
The contacts are arranged symmetrically on both sides of the relay coil and armature assembly in two stacks. They are easily accessible and the conversion from N/C to N/O contacts and vice versa is simple. The maximum rated voltage is 250V d.c. or a.c. and the material used is hard silver. The following definitions apply for reset and operate
condition; reset condition – Armature assembly position is away from the base i.e. the upper system has been pulsed and lower system is ready to be pulsed. The flag strips are invisible i.e. white during this condition. Operate condition – Armature assembly position is closer to the base i.e. the lower system has been pulsed and upper system is ready
to be pulsed. The flag strips are visible i.e. red during this condition.
A transparent, incombustible cover with a gasket protects the contacts against dirt. The terminals of the contact stacks themselves permit two wires of 1.5mm diameter maximum to be secured. The terminals on the base for the external wiring have holes with a diameter of 3.8mm. The terminals on the plug-in base can accommodate two wires, each 2 with a cross-section of 2.5mm . Changeover relays must always be mounted with the contact post horizontal, that is with the base on a vertical surface. The plug-in version offers many advantages, both from the point of view of
installation and afterwards for maintenance. It is fitted with locating pegs which prevent it from being inserted the wrong way round. The labelling of the terminals on the base is identical to that on the contact stacks.

Design & Principle
The auxiliary relays in the COMBIFLEX system, type RXP8n and RXPQ8n are instantaneous plunger type relay with 7 contacts with double interruption. They are designed to operate from d.c.
The magnet system comprises a fixed core and a moving, plunger-type armature, which actuates the contact bar directly. When the coil in de-energized , the armature of the magnet and the contact bar are forced back into their initial position by spring action. The contacts are arranged symmetrically in two rows, on either side of the magnet, clearly visible and readily accessible. They are designed for a maximum rated voltage of 250V d.c. or a.c. The material used for the contact tips is hard silver.
At the most, 3 normally closed contacts are permissible which should be distributed evenly between two sides. The field weakening resistor is cut in by means of a delayed normally closed contact on a special contact bar in series with the coil. The relay type RXPQ8n is specially designed for high speed operation and mechanical latching. It has operation indicator which pops out when the relay latches. The relay can be hand reset by pressing in and resetting the operation indicator. A transparent protective hood of material that does not burn readily provides good protection against dust. The plug-in relay module occupies two seats (2U 12C). The auxiliary relays should always be
mounted with their contact bar horizontal.

UVT92M fuse failure relay Features
• Fast operation
• 1, 2 or 3 phase fuse fail detection
• No continuous drain on D.C. auxiliary supply
• Hand reset LED operation indication
• Sensitivity down to 2.5VA load on secondary
Application
The fuse failure relay is intended for continuous monitoring of fuses against blowing out or inadvertent removals. In application where failure or inadvertent removal of fuse may cause incorrect tripping.
The relay can also be used for supervision of potential transformer fuses so as to give blocking signals to voltage operated protection schemes such as distance protection, under impedance and under voltage relays. It can be used for alarming purpose in synchronizing circuits.
Design and principle of operation
The fuse failure relay is a high speed static relay with built-in electro mechanical output relays providing two change over signaling duty contacts. The relay can operate for single, two or three phase fuse failure in secondary circuit.
During the normal operation, the potential across the fuses is nearly zero. When fuse fail will occur in any of the phase, the potential across the particular fuse goes up. This potential drives the circuit path for external LED indication and relay output.
The fuse fail in any phase is indicated by ‘Trip’ LED and will remain latched until reset push button is pressed and fuse is healthy. After replacing the faulty fuses, the output contacts can be reset. The plug in socket design for terminals facilitates ease of installation and maintenance. The relay is suitable for flush mounting on panel and is
sufficiently protected against any ingress. A unique Plug-in PCBA assembly and sheet metal case makes the relay robust and light weight.

This requirement is fulfilled by changeover contactors type RXPSU…n. The application of alternate control pulses to the coils because the contacts to change from the one state to the other. If the supply is interrupted, the contacts remain in their previous position, even when the voltage is restored.
Design and principle
The VHXm is a AC voltage measuring relay. Different versions are available for a) Fixed voltage setting with instantaneous operation b) Variable voltage setting with or without variable time delayed operation. The AC voltage to be measured is applied at terminal 3 and 4. The input voltage is isolated, scaled and suitably conditioned for measurement.
Operating voltage level and time delay can be set with the potentiometer on the front-panel of the relay.
The product of the potentiometer setting and multiplier (marked) is the set operate time for relay.
The VHXm is powered by a DC auxiliary supply. The relay has a built-in electro-mechanical output relay providing medium duty contacts. The output relay also has one red hand reset flag. The relay is available in draw-out type flush
mounting model.

Application
For remote and automatic control there is often a need for contactors which have two stable contact positions, even in the dead state. This requirement is fulfilled by changeover contactors type RXPSU…n. The application of alternate control pulses to the coils cause the contacts to change from the one state to the other. If the supply is interrupted, the contacts remain in their previous position, even when the voltage is restored.
Design and principle
The bistable relays in the COMBIFLEX system, type RXPSU6n and RXPSU14n are composed of the same constructional elements as the established contactors type P8n. Two magnet systems are interconnected by a pivoted element. In the type RXPSU6n… with 6 free contacts, only one system has contacts; in type PSU14n.. with 14 free
contacts, both systems have contacts.
Changeover relays must always be mounted with the contact post horizontal, that is with the base on a vertical surface. The plug-in relay module occupies two seats (2u 12C).
