The MiCOM Alstom  P343 generator protection relay have been designed for the protection of a wide range of generators.

The Micom Alstom P343 relay is suitable for protection of medium to large size generators (>10 MVA) or more important generators, providing generator differential, 100% stator earth fault via a 3rd harmonic measuring technique, pole slipping and unintentional energisation at standstill protection in addition to the features of the P342.

The relay family is suitable as main or backup protection for a wide range of typical applications and covers all common power system earthing arrangements such as solid, resistive, or resonant earthing and isolated networks. 

The color touch-screen HMI with provision for bay mimic display and integrated control / interlocking functions maximizes the application range. The fully programmable nature of relays make them an extremely versatile and cost effective solution for all switchgear applications with varied protection requirements. Up to 5 switchgear elements may be switched by the bay control models. The single line diagram for the bay or a subset of the substation, along with relevant data, may be generated via the configuration tool, aided by integrated graphical icons. The P50 Agile P253 provides basic motor protection for small and medium size MV/LV motors. It includes a wide range of measurements for motor supervision and operations including starting current record, and features flexible SCADA communication options such as Modbus/IEC 60870-5-103 or DNP3.0.

The principal protection functions include thermal overload, negative sequence overcurrent, loss of load, prolonged start,  locked rotor (starting / normal running), restricted earth fault, excessive number of starts and speed switch input. Additional versatility is provided through backup overcurrent and earth fault protection, with up to 3 independent stages, breaker fail and trip circuit supervision functions. The hardware capability is broadened by a sensitive earth fault CT option.

The user may assign any of the logical/physical statuses to binary inputs, outputs and programmable LEDs. All the output contacts are changeover type for ease of implementing the desired wiring schematic.
