Load flow studies will be carried out with the Plant operating at normal/worst and rated load operating conditions. Load studies for all conditions of operation will be carried out based upon anticipated demand (load schedule) of the Peak Valley of low voltage high voltage Bus systems.

 

The following output data will be presented as a minimum for all load flow studies

  • Busbar voltages in terms of per unit of busbar rated voltage and phase.
  • Real and reactive components of power flow past a point in the system, i.e. Busbar and feeder in MW and Mvar.
  • MW and Mvar losses at the optimum transformer tap settings. The optimum tap setting being that which ensures at minimum load and full load, the voltage remains within specified tolerance limits (+/- 5% of the rated busbar voltage).
  • Loading of all the branches (transformers, cables etc.) in terms of % of their rated capabilities.
  • Total system demand, losses, and loading of the network in MW and Mvar.
  • Power factor at each busbar.
  • Voltage drop in feeder circuit cables.

Studies will be carried out which simulates resonance and harmonic distortion in the plant. Harmonic current and voltage sources are to be defined at multiple locations in the power system. Capacitor banks, single tune filters and high pass filters included in the voltage and current distortion evaluation, impedance resonance scans, and in harmonic load flow results. The power distribution system will be examined prior to construction and the harmonic effect addressed during the design with the use of corrective filter designs evaluated prior to installation.   • Voltage variations at busbars for drives start up of the largest rated motor with all other drives at standstill (static).
  • Voltage variations at busbars for drives start up the largest rated motor with all other drives running (dynamic).
  • Motor Reacceleration study.
  • Determination of tap settings for the transformers.
  • Load acceptance of the small Generator.
  • Suitability of starting of largest motor for different modes of operations.
  • Response of Power System and generators including frequency variation, voltage variation due to outage of any of the operating generator with normal connected load on the system.
  • The dynamic performance of the system with respect to the following minimum disturbances will be studied.
  • External Faults
  • Internal Faults
  • Load Throw off conditions
  • Performance of generators with without Grid.
  • Dynamic behaviour of Turbo Generators (including generators) in terms of Load Flows Load Sharing during Islanded condition. Internal external disturbances will be reported to establish critical clearing time and set protections accordingly, in case of fault, to avoid tripping of Generators.
  • Load-shedding scheme
  • Appropriate load shedding scheme will be suggested based on the criticality of loads.
