The RUGGEDCOM RSL910 is a compact form factor rugged Ethernet switch with two EoVDSL2 uplinks and two gigabit SFP uplinks providing the flexibility to use copper or optical infrastructure in harsh environments.

The RUGGEDCOM RSL910 comes with 6 Fast Ethernet ports, 2 SFP-Slots supporting Gigabit and Fast Ethernet and 2 EoVDSL2 uplinks.

The RUGGEDCOM RSL910 is a rugged 10-port managed Ethernet switch, supporting Ethernet over VDSL2 (EoVDSL2) and allowing up to 2.9 km LAN segments over telephone-grade cable at up to 85 Mbps with optional SFP slots supporting Gigabit and Fast Ethernet.

With the RUGGEDCOM RSL910 it is possible to reuse existing copper cabling to enable rail and road operators to achieve broadband speeds between equipment cabinets. This is a cost efficient way of converting legacy systems into modern Ethernet-based applications which allow reliable, low latency connectivity to control centers.

The RUGGEDCOM RSL910 combines EoVDSL2 and SFP-slots in the same device for a migration path from legacy 2-wire copper cabling to high speed fiber optic or other advanced network topologies.

The RUGGEDCOM RSL910 performs well under harsh conditions and is therefore suitable for use in outdoor environments where support for low and/or high temperatures is mandatory. Besides support for harsh environments the device is also approved and certified for use in transportation applications (EN50121-4, EN50121-3, EN 45545-2 and NEMA TS2).

    Frequency50/60 Hz
    Voltage220 V
    Power SourceElectric
    Operating Temperature-40 deg C to +70 deg C
    Memory2GB DDR-2

Leveraging the built-in switching and routing capabilities of the RUGGEDCOM RX1500, the RUGGEDCOM APE is a utility-grade computing platform that plugs directly into any member of the RUGGEDCOM RX1500 family and makes it possible to run third party software applications without the complications and inconveniences of procuring an external industrial PC.

RUGGEDCOM APE is available pre-installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Embedded, Linux, and CheckPoint GAiA platforms. As it is compliant to the standards of a PC, the user can choose to install and run their customized operating system as they choose.

RUGGEDCOM APE provides one Gigabit Ethernet link on the front of the unit, and another equal, but completely separated link to the backplane of the RX15xx chassis. This physical separation of ports and the special arrangement of the connections on RUGGEDCOM APE make it an ideal platform for networking and security-related applications, examples of which are security appliances, firewalls, network log and load processors, and intrusion sensors.

Through the use of a virtual machine, old software can be run on new and secure operating systems on the RUGGEDCOM APE, making it possible to extend the life of obsolete and unsupported software. All variants of RUGGEDCOM APE are available with optional conformal coating, and are qualified for operating ambient temperatures of -40º C to +70º C. It meets all the electrical specifications of the RUGGEDCOM RX15xx platform, namely IEC61850-3 and IEEE 1613 for operation under some of the harshest industrial conditions.

    Software Version2018
    Software NameELAN Software
    Supported OSRX1500 series ROX2
    No of Connection25 Devices

RUGGEDCOM ELAN solves a wide range of communications and data integration issues, from the substation to the control center and into the enterprise. The RUGGEDCOM ELAN family of products is based on the Linux operating system and includes the Substation Communications Server, Universal DNP Gateway , Remote Interface Gateway, and Front End Processor. Each product is focused on a specific application within the utility’s communication infrastructure. The central benefit of using RUGGEDCOM ELAN solutions is that a broad range of users within the utility are given secure access to the IED information that they require, made available in a format they understand, whenever they need it. When used with other RUGGEDCOM applications for secure remote access and data presentation and analysis, the user benefits from ease of integration and implementation.

    Substation Communications Server
RUGGEDCOM ELAN SCS typically resides in the substation and has a direct connection to all IEDs. It provides a single point of access to these devices, over a Wide Area Network (WAN) or modem connection. The strength of the RUGGEDCOM ELAN SCS lies in its ability to support multiple, concurrent host interfaces; each getting the specific data it needs. For example, from a particular relay, SCADA data may be sent to the EMS, using a SCADA protocol; a different subset of data may go to a historian and fault files may be automatically extracted and distributed to interested users.

Deployed in the substation, the ELAN SCS provides the following functionality:

    • Open, flexible access to all substation and distribution devices, from any authorized user or application
    • Preserves investment in legacy devices and control centre applications
    • Protocol conversion/normalization and data concentration
    • Automated retrieval of fault file data (sometimes called non-operational data)
    • Powerful automation processor
    • Reliable extraction/presentation of relay target data
    • May run on the RX1500 RUGGEDCOM APE Module, eliminating the need for additional substation computers

    Universal DNP Gateway

RUGGEDCOM ELAN UDG is based on the robust, flexible Linux architecture, and is available on a variety of diskless hardware platforms, and I/O configurations.

    • The ELAN UDG can be deployed in any area from the control center to the substation for smaller systems (<25 devices). The ELAN UDG provides the following functionality:
    • Flexible, high performance protocol routing (DNP3, IEC 870-5-104)
    • Device level configuration
    • Address masquerading
    • Protocol conversion/normalization and data concentration
    • Multi-master support

TRUGGEDCOM DIRECTOR is a serial port redirection application that is designed to extend the life and reach of applications written for serial communications. With RUGGEDCOM DIRECTOR, serial port communications are no longer limited by serial protocol cable length requirements or physical port counts that restrict the design and flexibility of networks and the ability to manage them. Using RUGGEDCOM DIRECTOR, the application communications destined for host serial ports are mapped to the host LAN ports for transport across a TCP/IP network to RUGGEDCOM serial servers. This allows the host to be located centrally for easier management and maintenance and provides access to many more serial devices. The redirection is done seamlessly and with no modification required to the host application providing extended life to both the application and the serial device that it communicates with.

Getting up and running quickly is easy with the Windows based graphical user interface. Simply provide the port parameters on the application host and the RUGGEDCOM serial server and RUGGEDCOM DIRECTOR automatically generates the required connections. The main interface window shows the connected ports, status and the number of packets sent and received providing real time information on the health of system. Troubleshooting is simplified with the logging feature of RUGGEDCOM DIRECTOR; the data flow on a selected port can be monitored in the detail dialogue window and directed to a file for further analysis.

RUGGEDCOM DIRECTOR saves time and cost allowing legacy serial devices and applications to communicate over LAN connections without modification to hardware or software. RUGGEDCOM DIRECTOR is a complimentary software package designed to work with RUGGEDCOM serial device servers.

The RUGGEDCOM-Selector lets you configure RUGGEDCOM products quickly, easily, and efficiently, by using targeted navigation through selection menus or by entering item numbers. Selected products can then be ordered directly by transferring the parts list into the Industry Mall.

    Benefits

    • Redirect serial port traffic over the network extending the life and range of serial devices
    • Eliminate physical port restriction with up to 128 virtual serial ports
    • Intuitive Windows based GUI to get up and running quickly
    • Monitor real-time status and log traffic for quick problem resolution
